entrustIT’s implementation was progressive and forward thinking, whilst making use of the in-situ robust network infrastructure”
AOC Technologies
Global leaders in facilities management
The ACO brand is recognised globally as a leading provider in the design, development, and manufacture of surface water drainage systems.
ACO Technologies PLC is the UK division of the ACO Group. Established in 1984 and headquartered in Shefford, Bedfordshire, the company develops innovative drainage solutions using a broad range of materials, including polymer concrete, iron, steel, and plastics. These products are supported by a comprehensive design capability and a robust after-sales service offering.
The challenge
Following an office relocation, ACO Technologies identified an opportunity to invest in a new Door Access Control (DAC) platform capable of being deployed across the wider organisation. The solution was required to be scalable to support future company-wide rollout, while enabling both centralised management and local administration during the initial phase.
IP-based control was a key requirement to support a progressive, forward-looking implementation and to fully leverage the organisation’s existing, robust network infrastructure, while accommodating the necessary physical installation and system integration elements.
The solution
The solution implemented at ACO Technologies was designed to be intuitive and straightforward to use, fully meeting the organisation’s operational and security requirements.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) door controllers were deployed to minimise additional cabling and to maximise use of the existing structured cabling infrastructure. Magnetic locks were discreetly installed within the existing timber door frames, ensuring that the building’s modern aesthetic was preserved.
For safety and compliance, emergency break-glass units were installed on both sides of each controlled door. This was achieved using dual resettable break-glass devices complete with protective covers, audible sounders, and the associated supporting infrastructure.
The access control management software was installed and fully commissioned prior to user training being delivered by entrustIT, ensuring on-site staff were confident in day-to-day operation and system management. Future system expansion options were also presented, including functionality such as time and attendance and clock-in/clock-out capabilities, should the client choose to enable these features.
The benefits
DWM delivered the works to a tightly managed programme defined by LLAOL, coordinating on-site engineering resources alongside multiple contractors delivering parallel services.
Effective planning and collaboration ensured the installation was completed smoothly, with minimal disruption to the airport’s day-to-day operations.
As a result, London Luton Airport now benefits from a highly modern, technically advanced security solution that supports the ongoing safety of passengers and staff. This capability is underpinned by an Excel infrastructure platform, backed by a comprehensive 25-year warranty, providing long-term assurance and resilience.
