The Independent claims that the cost to the UK economy of the flooding over the Christmas period could reach £6bn. “Economists have predicted that the recent flooding will hit Britain’s GDP by 0.2 per cent due to businesses being forced to close, loss of agriculture output, and people not being able to go shopping and travel.”
