The future looks bright for architects and designers

Technological developments are making it easier for those reliant on CAD software to be more productive. We’re excited to introduce 3D Design Desktop – now you can design from anywhere.

Why we created 3D Design Desktop

Architects and Designers have been important customers for us at entrustIT. We’ve been working with the sector since 2006 but have always found that the requirement for CAD rendering has been a barrier to moving to a full cloud solution for their IT. As a result, our solutions have had to be ‘soft-touch cloud’, providing cloud services where possible, and fixing local and on-site issues when they arise.

Being unable to provide this sector with the freedom that the cloud brings, being able to work anywhere and on any device, and being able to scale IT up and down to match your requirements, just didn’t sit right with us. We were keen to find a way to provide the full cloud solution to our architect/design customers so that they too could reap these benefits, just like our other customers.

Unfortunately, the technology hadn’t quite caught up with our idea. Until now.

Technological advance offered us an opportunity, and the hard work of our engineers provided us with a product. As a result, we became one of the first cloud providers in the UK to offer a Hosted Desktop capable of performing complex CAD rendering in the cloud, augmenting dedicated servers with high performance NVidia Grid graphics cards. We call it the 3D Design Desktop and we are very excited about it.

3D Design Desktop – what’s all the fuss about?

3D Design Desktop is not just a new innovation for entrustIT, it’s a new innovation full stop. For the first time, architects and designers are able to take their work with them, no longer being constrained by where the PC with their CAD software is located. What’s more, since the rendering is performed on our dedicated servers in our UK data centres, there is no longer the requirement for expensive hardware. Rendering can be done on base model PCs, even on iPads and smartphones!

These are just a small fraction of the benefits of 3D Design Desktop. We listened to our customers in the design sector who were keen to be able to embrace the cloud, and our feedback has been nothing but positive. With interest in 3D Design Desktop flooding in from architects and designers across the UK, we are confident that 3D Design Desktop will provide architects and designers with the business freedom that they have been craving.

But is it secure?

The simple answer is yes. ISO 27001 certifications, UK based data centres, backup and disaster recovery built in, regular updates and security patches. The list goes on. At entrustIT, data security is our top priority. We invest heavily in our cyber security measures and ensure that we are always on top of security updates and patches, constantly monitoring our servers against threats.
