Key Industrial, based in Verwood, have been recognised as "Supplier of the Year" by Sunseeker International, the luxury boat builders (www.sunseeker.com). Key operate a vendor managed inventory system for Sunseeker which ensures that components required for boat manufacture are always on-site when required - avoiding the need for constant product ordering. Sunseeker are invoiced only as items are used and Key replenish the local stocks as required. At the heart of the system is a reporting and data warehouse solution developed by Entrust IT. Based on Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Analysis Services and Reporting Services, this provides consumption reports that are automatically emailed to Sunseeker personnel on a daily basis. In addition, Sunseeker managers and Key personnel can access an online data warehouse that allows more ad-hoc review of usage as well as comparison between locations and production lines over time. This system, which was delivered at the beginning of 2008, has enabled Key to maintain their position as the best of Sunseeker's suppliers and is enabling them to bid for expanded work.
